Essential Fleet Services has a 42 year history of setting up and operating maintenance facilities to inspect, service and maintain essential LCV and HGV fleets for local authorities throughout the UK.
By consulting with our public sector customers we fully understand the numbers, types and inspection regimes of vehicles to use the facility and any anticipated volume of sub contracted work, including the provision of MOT testing, we assist in the improvement of existing facilities or identifying and sourcing suitable facilities and designing the internal layout to meet the customer’s requirements.

We have a depth of successful experience in utilising our clients’ existing infrastructure and managing staff TUPE transfers into our employment, working as an integrated partner to achieve smooth transitions. Since the formation of the business as a limited company in 1998 we have TUPE transferred over 300 staff into our employment as a result of partnerships with local authorities.
For a number of our council partners we also provide the option of the workshop staff remaining as direct employees, with Essential providing best in class working practises and management controls to drive efficiencies within the service centre. This can include the placement of a service centre manager working seamlessly with the existing staff, and ensures the technicians have access to Essential's programme of training and development.
