We were delighted to be welcomed as Essential Fleet Services into the portfolio of Endless LLP investments in July 2015. A transaction that further enhanced the Endless credentials in acquiring non-core businesses from larger groups, with companies in the portfolio now including prestigious names such as Jones the Bootmakers, Imtech UK & Ireland, The Works and O&H Vehicle Conversions.
Endless partnered with Kier Group plc to acquire its Fleet & Passenger Services division, subsequently re-branded Essential Fleet Services, and were able to bring a highly efficient process to deliver the management buyout without the need for new debt and including their own internal due diligence, thereby expediting the timetable.
Since the acquisition Essential Fleet Services have taken the strategic decision to exit the passenger services market, through a managed process, and to focus on our core business activities which centre on the provision of specialist vehicle contract hire and maintenance services. This decision has seen a positive impact on Essentials profitability and was followed by a number of key contracts, most notably with Flintshire County Council for the supply and maintenance of their specialist fleet, and we are continuing a programme of investment that is accelerating the performance of our business.
The decision in January 2016 saw the start of what was a transformational year for Essential Fleet and, working with Matthew Jubb, Tom Jack and the Endless LLP team, Essential are now accelerating ambitious plans to double the size of the business by becoming the partner of choice for local authorities and large corporates, as they look for an experienced and trusted partner to deliver specialist vehicle funding and maintenance solutions.
