Essential Business - Company & Heritage

Company

Our core service offering is the contract hire of specialist vehicles and light commercial vehicles (LCVs), which often includes maintenance services. We offer peace of mind through fully outsourced fleet management, where we take care of the day to day management and maintenance of your fleet leaving you free to focus on your other business needs and core service provision. For our clients who wish to retain fleet ownership, Essential offers maintenance only contracts.

Our services are delivered to you through our national infrastructure, which includes nationwide service centres. Our distinctive heritage, has helped us to become the largest provider of specialist vehicle fleet management to the local authority market.

As well as the core fleet services offered, Essential also provides a range of additional services which sit alongside vehicle provision. Services include record management, service scheduling and management, warranty support, O-Licence compliance, driver training, accident support, spot hire and insurance administration.

We would be really happy to discuss any of these services, to understand what would work best for you.

Heritage

We’ve been involved in specifying, procuring, supporting and operating essential vehicles in the public sector for over 40 years. We trace our roots back to Lincolnshire County Council, where we were the busy transport function in the early 1970’s. Back then, we provided contract hire with maintenance to the entire local authority fleet, as well as operating passenger transport services. Our relationship with LCC is still strong although we’ve really grown since leaving the council, thanks to the dedication, experience and knowledge of our Essential employees.

We’re uniquely placed to understand the changes that are taking place in Local Authorities in terms of vehicle purchasing and specifying needs.

We understand the 'real world' challenges faced by fleet managers

Over the years, we’ve been able to apply our fleet expertise to other public sector organisations and continue to work with these customers to adapt and learn to support them as they face new challenges and opportunities.

Our heritage means that our people offer technical ‘know-how’ combined with practical commercial solutions, based on their experience of working on vehicles, managing service centres and operating fleets. We understand the real-world challenges faced by the public sector, but for Essential this presents opportunities for new and innovative ways of thinking about fleet service delivery which we’re keen to share.

CSR is incredibly important to us at Essential. Click here to view our Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement.
