Freight Transport Association (FTA)
The FTA is one of the UK’s largest trade associations and represents the transport interests of companies moving goods by road, rail, sea and air. Boasting a rich heritage, FTA has been supporting the interests of the transport industry since 1889. FTA members operate more than 200,000 lorries, almost half the UK fleet. Which means they are responsible for over 90 per cent of freight moved by rail and 70 per cent of UK visible exports by sea and air.
British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA)
Established in 1967, the BVRLA is the trade body for companies engaged in the leasing and rental of cars and commercial vehicles. BVRLA members operate a combined fleet of around 2.75 million cars, vans and trucks, and purchase around 80 per cent of UK-manufactured vehicles sold in this country. In total, through its direct operations, the vehicles it purchases and its activities in dealerships and the used car market, the vehicle rental and leasing industry contributes an estimated £14.3bn to the UK economy. Through its 500 member companies and their customers, the BVRLA represents the interests of more than two million business car drivers and the millions of people who use a rental vehicle each year. It lobbies at the heart of government in the UK and EU to ensure that regulation and legislation affecting its members is fair and doesn't stifle competition. The BVRLA also works with public sector agencies, industry associations and key business influencers on key road transport, taxation and finance-related issues.
